We have found ourselves discussing the differences between boys and girls in our school more often recently and we have decided to make this a focus for one of our working parties.

Working parties - we have used this model a few times in school when we have had 3 areas to work on. The teaching staff are split into three groups (shared experience/slt/key stages) and each team takes on one area.

    So far...

    • Analysis of results of all subjects (including foundation subjects) - comparing boys / girls attainment and attitude
    • Subject leaders have included this information in their subject reviews and this has been shared with all staff and governors
    • Working party has been formed and some initial research has been shared (CM - Deputy, leading this group)
    • SE/CM on the EEN group
    • In depth analysis of behaviour in school carried out (comparison with previous years) Focus on differences between boys and girls and the types of negative behaviour happening across school
    Next steps
    • First working party meeting on 25.9.18 - an action plan to be created from this group
    • Pupil progress meetings beginning 24.9.18 - all will include a focus on gender gaps within their cohorts/classes
    • Behaviour professional day in January - Steve Russell meeting next week - focus on gender
